I’m writing this on a Thursday, but it’s my Friday. David and I are flying to Miami tomorrow for my cousin’s wedding. Given this weekend’s celebratory mood, I thought I’d take a break from library and bookish content to share cozy moments from the past few weeks.

Our cat is a creature of monthly habits. He picks a napping spot and sleeps in it all the time until he decides good riddance and finds another place to snooze. His current spot is in our living room blanket bin. Somehow he’s managed to sleep through every episode of season 2 of House of the Dragon.
Living near a Trader Joe’s is delightful. I am normally not a creamer person but decided to try this seasonal one. OH.MY.GOD. The oat milk and cinnamon balance out the sweetness perfectly. Paired with black chai-spiced tea, it’s 🤌🏻
My husband and I have been trying to broaden our weeknight meals from chicken and rice and breakfast for dinner. We made shrimp scampi with these GF egg noodles from Trader Joe’s (I swear I am not being paid for this). I felt like I was eating gluten again. Red pepper flakes were the key, and roasted broccoli with pepper and celery salt made a great side.
Our nephew requested to come over so he and his sister could play on the playground near our house. (It’s his favorite one, not to brag or anything). Afterwards, we warmed up with hot chocolate, and the kids explored all the cool non-kid stuff they can only find at their aunt and uncle’s house. My niece is obsessed with my crochet hooks and asked me to show her how to crochet (she’s 3). She then requested that I crochet her a tail for “next time.”
Last but certainly not least, I’m excited to share that I’m now a book reviewer for Youth Services Book Review! This blog is a must-bookmark for children’s librarians, school librarians, and anyone interested in the world of children’s and YA lit. I picked up my first book for review today, a YA dystopia. My goal is 1 review per month. We’ll see how it goes!
